Habit & Growth rate: Relative moderate to fast growing tends to be narrow and spindly when young and develops a rounded vase canopy, becoming quite symmetrical with maturity.

Foliage: Dark rich green pinnate leaves in summer, usually with 10 or 12 leaflets. The autumn colour is most spectacular orange to red and bright crimson with colour lasting quite late into the winter.

Comments:

Pistacia chinensis is an ugly duckling when young but with correct formative pruning done in the nursery it grows into a magnificent tree that is under utilized in the urban landscape. Grows quickly in full sun or part shade, tolerates droughts and heat extremely well and has shown to handle difficult areas in streets and parks.
