A tale of two trees

The seeds bought home by the ANZACs, Smith and McDowell came from two varieties of pine: The original Lone Pine tree itself (Pinus brutia) and branches used as cover in the Australian and Turkish trenches (Pinus halepensis).           (Reference: Australian Geographic April-June 2011)
