Acer truncatum x A. platanoides 'Keithsform' Norwegian Sunsetimage001

Norwegian Sunset Maple

Height: 11 x 6m

Habit and Growth Rate: Upright oval tree with good branch structure with a moderate growth rate.

Comments: Well formed tree with a uniform canopy and the dark green glossy sharply lobed leaves  exhibit good autumn tones of yellows, oranges and reds. This well performed tree does well on most soil types, tolerates heat and can with stand periods of dry. The Norwegian Sunset Maple could be considered a replacement for some Platanus species that may cause problems around children's playgrounds.

Norwegian Sunset and Pacific Sunset are very similar in that they are both fairly upright in growth with good branch structure. Pacific Sunset would be describes as being a little more rounded and open in the canopy. Autumns tones and leaf shapes are very similar.

Both trees are a cross between Acer truncatum and Acer platanoides both considered very durable tough trees that handle drought, dry summers and all the problems of the urban environment.

All plant dimensions are estimates only and ultimate size and growth rates will depend on growing conditions, particularly when used in some urban environments. All estimates are based around a 20-year time frame. With maturity most species will grow larger.
